LED strip profile – what is it? The profile is a U-shaped metal plate made of aluminum. So, stripes with diodes are installed inside the device, which helps to hide the wiring. From above, they are closed by a thick screen – it performs several functions at once (depending on the marking). Among the main advantages are: • protection of the stripe from various physical damages, such as, rain, snow or wind (if you want to install it on the street); • focus of the light beam in a specific direction to emphasize a variety of details in the interior; • the formation of a certain color scheme for the thematic design of the space. Why do I need a stripe for a LED profile? As a rule, a profile for a LED strip is used to perform 2 main functions - as a heat sink and as an element for attaching a strip. Thus, the profile was originally conceived in order to divert heat fluxes, because when overheated, the diode lamps dimmed and became completely unusable. If you install a LED strip without a profile, for example, stick it directly on the chipboard, then it will burn out over time (especially if the strip is made of silicone). Today, such a LED profile is actively used to create LED lighting, which has been rapidly gaining popularity. This type of lighting has good characteristics (efficiency, durability and the ability to recreate a unique interior design). One of the main advantages of the aluminum profile, which is widely represented in the SkarLight product line, is thermal conductivity. This characteristic allows you to dissipate heat from the heating of the LED strip well. Furthermore, the use of our profile allows you to create not only technologically correct, but also an aesthetic lighting that will fit perfectly into any interior solution! Types of LED profile • Overlay aluminum profile This type of profile is the most popular and usable one. It is U-shaped, special recesses are placed on the sides for fixing the diffuser. • Built-in or embedded profile As well as the overlay profile, this one can have various depths. However, their difference is that the embedded type has special protrusions, so when you embed it, for example, in the furniture an aesthetically beautiful edge is recreated. Also, this profile is actively used in order to illuminate walls and false ceilings. • Corner profile The most common area of application is the highlighting of functional areas in the kitchen and the illumination of curtains. A distinctive advantage of this type of profile is that it can be neatly installed in any angle. • Round profile Great for places where you need to install a LED lamp of a round or unusual shape. What is profile depth? Whether the profile screen with the LED strip is lit evenly depends on 2 conditions: • the distance between adjacent LEDs (it should be less than the depth of the profile - the distance between the LEDs and the screen of the profile - not less than 1.5 times); • the level to which the frosted screen itself scatters light. Provided that the first condition is not met, the aluminum profile screen will not glow evenly, without dots. As a rule, almost no aluminum profiles with a distance to the screen less than 10 mm do not give normal illumination. You can find various variations of the aluminum profile in the SkarLight product line. Create unique original interior and design solutions with us!
